It’s not just the work…

It’s Not Just the Work – It’s the People

If you’d asked me what I’d love most about running my own business before I started, I probably would’ve said the freedom, the creativity, or the satisfaction of doing work I truly care about. And those things are all up there, but the part that lights me up the most? It’s the people.

It’s the conversations I never expected to have.
It’s the quick chats that become collaborations.
It’s the shared laughs, the honesty, the sense of “I’m not perfect, but I’m here anyway!”

Running a business has introduced me to the most fascinating, thoughtful, talented people—people I may never have got to know otherwise. Clients, peers, suppliers, collaborators, mentors, and even virtual strangers at events. Each person brings a fresh perspective, a different rhythm, a unique story. And whether our connection lasts five minutes or five years, they all enrich my life in ways I couldn’t have predicted.

It’s not just about business, either. Some of these connections have shifted how I see the world. Some have become genuine friendships. And some have reminded me why I started all of this in the first place.

A Life More Connected

I’ve been reflecting on the idea of work–life integration. It’s a concept that feels more aligned with how I want to live and work, especially as someone who thrives on connection. Rather than keeping rigid boundaries between “work” and “life,” I’m learning that they can inform and support one another.

Meeting incredible people through my work is one of the clearest examples of this. The relationships I build in my business don’t just make my work more enjoyable—they make my life richer.

Instead of thinking, “I’ve got to switch off from work so I can enjoy life,” I’m starting to see how work is a part of life. Not in a way that overwhelms or takes over, but in a way that enhances it—especially when it brings me into contact with people who challenge me, inspire me, and make the journey more meaningful.

Redefining Success

To me, success is about the people I get to work alongside. The clients I genuinely root for. The collaborations that feel like a breath of fresh air. The moments of kindness and humour that break up the deadlines.

Of course, I love helping clients get their books in order, streamline operations, or build clarity into their day-to-day. But the real gold is found in the people I meet while doing it. That’s the unexpected joy of running a business—and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

Who I Work With

I work with creative, artisan, transformational or eco-conscious, thoughtful business owners who value clarity, efficiency and a little less noise in their day.

Final Thoughts

If you’re growing your business and craving support that integrates seamlessly with your life and values, I’d love to connect. Whether we work together or simply share a conversation, I know I’ll walk away wiser—and I hope you will too.
